Church of Our Lady of the Rosary

Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, also known as the Catholic Cathedral of Asmara. In an impressive large Revival First Romanesque style cathedral located in the capital city of the State of Eritrea, Asmara. Built in 1922 by the colonial authorities of Italian Eritrea, it is now the seat of the Eritrean Catholic Archeparchy of Asmara.

My son and I stayed in Asmara, Eritrea for approximately three months.  Upon arrival, I first found accomodations for a few weeks in a nicely appointed downtown hotel, located on the main street.  I would later rent a two bedroom flat at the Sembal Complex for the duration of our stay in-country.

These photos are only a few of my captures while roaming the city of Asmara.  Most are in black & white but with a few in color.  I used a Nikon F camera with 35mm film.  I was happy to fine a component professional film developer who was more than willing and able to assist me. These are digital scans of old photographic prints.
