Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra

Performed by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, a Malaysian orchestra based in Kuala Lumpur. The orchestra is resident at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall. This is where It performs as one of Asia’s leading orchestras, long praised for its musical qualities.

I was in attendance on 28 March 2026 for a most enjoyable evening. The performance: A Journey Through Mandarin Classics. This is one of several performances I have attended recently.

Below, view a few photos and short videos which I took during the concert.

This was an experience for a symphonic fusion of an era-defining Mandarin pop and classical drama. Francis Kan, conductor.

Vocalists Layla Sania, Izen Kong, Janet Lee, and Daniel, accompanied by a full orchestra, breathe new life into classics – from Histoire d’un amour (我的心裡只有你沒有他) to Night After Night (夜夜夜夜). The evening blends iconic favourites like Olive Tree (橄榄树) with thrilling crossover pieces, including Bizet’s Carmen (卡门). Witness the powerful fusion of unforgettable melodies and grand orchestral artistry.
