Ailyn Landeg Gayoc

1996 – Our First Meeting

State Polytechnic College of Palawan (SPCP)

I first met Ailyn after arriving in Aborlan, Palawan, Philippines, the same day I took this photo in her office at SPCP.  I was previously the executive director of an environmental NGO in Taipei, Taiwan and was also engaged as a Baha’i international travel-teacher and community consolidator.  The Philippines was to be my interim stopover prior to departing for Myanmar (Burma).  My arrival in the Philippines would require me to engage two primary Objectives:
Objective One.  Meet with local officials to discuss environmental matters and plan ways to build environmental awareness within local groups and indigenous societies.

Objective Two.  Assist the Philippine National Baha’i community to expand and consolidate its efforts in outlying areas.

These objectives would also provide mutual support for the United Nations mandated Agenda Twenty-one Sustainable Development Goals.

Locally, my efforts were supported by government officials and international NGOs, academic organizations, and community residents.  They provided assistance with planning and organizating speaking engagements on college campuses, in elementary schools, and at outdoor public gatherings.

Ailyn, then employed at SPCA, was instrumental in finalizing draft plans and in formalizing requests that would grant me permission to engage in open forums and discussion groups on campus centered on major issues associated with environmental concerns.

Engaged In Life To
Achieve Excellence!

“Excellence is about stepping outside the comfort zone, training with a spirit of endeavour, and accepting the inevitability of trials and tribulations. Progress is built, in effect, upon the foundations of necessary failure.

This is the essential paradox of expert performance. When these conditions are in place, learning takes off, knowledge escalates, and performance soars. You are on the path to excellence.”

About Ailyn

Inspired with strong desire to achieve a stable and progressive lifestyle, to contribute to self and community, Ailyn started working at SCPC in the budgeting department. She later became interested in computer systems, became self-taught in MicroSoft Word and Excel programs, and then organised classes to teach students and coworkers what she had learned.

Having successfully completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree, she enrolled in master’s level business administration program, taking classes after work and Saturday mornings. After marriage, and during pregnancy, she would changed her studies after moving with her husband to Manila where she gave birth to a son. Subsequently, she returned to her studies to complete the Masters of Community Development Program at the highly rated University of the Philippines, Dilliman. She then returned to SCPC, however, this time as an instructor. She was later accepted as an Assistant Professor at Western Philippines University. Current.

I’m self-confidence and inspire confidence in others.
