Hiking Cameron Highlands
Tea Plantation

3 Aug 2018 – Cameron Highlands is where lowlanders go to escape the heat. Located in Pahang, a large state in Peninsular Malaysia, it’s known for its mountains and rainforests, and include resorts, tea plantations, and terraced farms. I usually come here when on a round trip from Penang to Kuala Lumpur. Today, I decided to hike the tea plantation located in the environs of Cameron Valley Tea House 1.

Camera: Nikon D7000; Lens: AS-S Nikkor DX 18-300mm, 1:3.5-5.6G VR.

Many of those employed at the local tea plantations are ‘guest workers’ from Bangladesh, and they mostly live onsite. Above, workers hang their lunch containers and rest mats until its time for their break. Not only is tea harvested, but also a variety of vegetables are produced and sold in the Malaysian markets. Seen here are workers packaging watercress with ice in preparation for shipment.
